Believe it or not, it is most common to see people deal with substance abuse due to it can give you a pleasurable “high,” ease your stress, or help you avoid problems in your life.

Not only can substance abuse take a toll on you physically, but it can mentally.

HOW TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM

If you are unsure whether or not drug use has become excessive, there are a few examples listed below that affects everyday:

-fail to attend work, social events, responsibilities

-short term memory loss

-relationship issues

-the urge of dependency or reliance.

Substance abuse can lead to substance dependence or addiction when both the amount of substance used and the rate of use increase. People who experience drug or alcohol addiction feel unable to control the impulse to use, and they often experience withdrawal symptoms in the sudden absence of the substance.

Addiction can often be difficult to treat, and there is a good deal of controversy surrounding the causes of addiction and the best approaches to treatment.
